Product FAQs
Phocos FAQs
Does the AB-PLC work with mobile Edge/3G/4G/5G networks using a SIM card?
The AB-PLC is designed to connect to an existing local IP network and internet infrastructure. This means you need a router with internet access at the installation location. The AB-PLC can connect to the router via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable. You can use any router with various internet access methods, including ADSL, fiber, cable, satellite, or mobile internet via a SIM card.
How do I connect the Any-Bridge™ AB-PLC to my Phocos power device?
The AB-PLC is compatible with the Phocos Any-Grid™ PSW-H series of inverter/chargers with MPPT. To connect, use the included straight Ethernet patch cable to link the RS-232 port of the AB-PLC to the RS-232 port of the Any-Grid PSW-H unit. This connection powers the AB-PLC and enables data transfer from the PSW-H to the AB-PLC, and then to the PhocosLink Cloud.
How do I log into the PhocosLink Cloud portal?
You can log into the PhocosLink Cloud from any internet-connected device with a browser. During AB-PLC setup (refer to the AB-PLC manual for details), you will enter your email address, which will serve as your login credential along with a password that you can define.
After installation of an Any-Grid PSW-H inverter, does the filter need attention? If so, what should be done?
Regular maintenance of dust filters is necessary for optimal inverter performance. Dust filters help prevent overheating by ensuring proper airflow. The Any-Grid PSW-H comes with two dust filters that are easy to access. To maintain them:
- Remove the dust filter from the unit.
- Rinse the filter with tap water.
- Dry the filter with a paper towel in a clean environment.
- Reinstall the filter once it is completely dry.
Frequency of Maintenance:
- In low dust environments: Wash and replace the dust filter every 6 months.
- In heavy dust environments: Consider monthly maintenance.
Are all the MPPT charge controllers from the inverters individual or are they hooked up to each other?
If using more than one Any-Grid PSW-H unit, each unit handles its own PV array independently. The MPPTs are not interconnected; they work separately to optimize PV harvest, especially in situations of partial shading or other suboptimal conditions.
Are the Any-Grid PSW-H’s fans loud? When do the fans run?
The fans in the Any-Grid PSW-H are always running but at reduced speeds when the inverter is operating at low power. At low power, fans run at about 30% speed and adjust based on output or PV input power. They are speed-controlled and generally run under 60 dBa, with around 35 dBa at 30% speed. It is advisable not to place the inverter in living areas due to noise and ventilation requirements, especially for rooms containing lead-acid batteries.
Are there any requirements if you install thin film modules?
Phocos does not impose specific requirements, but you should consult the thin film module manufacturer for any grounding needs. The Any-Grid PSW-H allows for various battery grounding configurations but does not permit grounding of the positive or negative PV terminals. If grounding of PV terminals is required by your thin film module manufacturer, the Any-Grid PSW-H may not be suitable.
What is the largest and smallest battery bank one can use with Any-Grid PSW-H Inverters?
For Any-Grid PSW-H inverters, the primary consideration is nominal voltage. Match the battery bank's nominal voltage with the inverter's (e.g., 24 Vdc battery bank for a 24 Vdc inverter). The practical size limits are influenced by system size, budget, and space. The minimum recommended size is 200 Ah of battery capacity per PSW-H for lead-based batteries. For lithium batteries, ensure the battery and its BMS handle the inverter's current requirements.
What is the maximum PV current that the Any-Grid PSW-H inverter can handle?
The maximum usable current per input for the PSW-H 5KW-120/48V model is 18 Adc. With two independent MPPT inputs, each can handle up to 18 Adc. Exceeding this current may cause the MPPT to limit input current and result in efficiency losses. Ensure the PV voltage does not exceed the inverter's maximum voltage rating (250 Vdc for the PSW-H 5KW-120/48V).
What is the warranty for the Any-Grid PSW-H?
The warranty period for the Any-Grid PSW-H is 3 years.
