All standard size units are interchangeable with all standard size filters. So, if you purchased a standard size HealthMate® and would like to upgrade to a Bedroom Machine®, simply purchase a replacement Bedroom Machine® filter.
You can check the size of your existing filter by looking for a label on the underside. Model HM400 indicates standard size filter.

What is the difference between the four Austin Air filter types?
All of our filters have the same first two stages of filter as follows:
STAGE 1 – Large Particle Pre-filter. Removes particles easily seen by the naked eye (e.g. dust, hair and pet dander)
STAGE 2 – Medium Particle Pre-filter. Removes small to medium size particles (e.g. molds, spores and pollen)

What are the pre-filters made of?
Our pre-filters are made of bonded polyester.
What exactly is a HEPA filter?
The HEPA (High Efficiency Particle Arresting) filter was developed by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission to filter out sub-micron particles. All true medical grade HEPA is laser-tested and must remove a minimum of 99.97% of all particulate matter greater in size 0.3 microns. Austin Air’s HEPA filters also remove 95% of all particles larger than 0.1 microns. All Austin Air purifiers feature true medical grade HEPA filters.
